Processes - Rapid Quenching

Rapid Quenching of lean alloy steels using intensive quench technology was developed with the assistance of DTI SMART support in 2000.

Intensive quenching technology is based on the contradicting phenomena that a very high cooling rate within the martensitic range prevents quench cracking and minimises distortion. Metaltech have successfully commercially developed this technique for the heat treatment of several lean alloy castings and forgings.
